Research

My particular research interest is in what I call “the metaphysics of design”—the immaterial aspects that give force or power to the material world. Metaphysics of design necessarily involves a reflection on worldview—beliefs, conceptions of the world, and our most firmly held convictions—and its relation to the material world. Though seemingly simple, a reflection on worldview opens up a rich area of research with important implications for designers across the spectrum of practice. Below is a brief sampling of where those investigations have led me.
